Draw it up! First step to seeing the idea on screen, renderd or animated. Depending on the nature of the product, we can 3D print, machine or hand make it. It can be then fitted to an existing system or be examined for its functionality.
Tweak, itrate and redesign till the product is ready. Using the engineering drawings, the procduct cost, manufacturing process and, marketing methods can be determined.
